General rules are laid down by the Strategic Council for Education (DSUR). AI is permitted on equal terms with all other aids. Studies boards for the individual programmes decide how to implement the general rules. The study boards have assessed what makes sense for the individual programme, which is why there are differences.

It means several things: 

1. That you must familiarize yourself with the rules for the individual programme, the individual project or module
2. If you are studying a dual-subject programme, each programme may have different rules. For example, the programme for upper secondary teachers with the subjects Danish and Mathematics will have different approaches to the use of AI. In Danish, part of the purpose of the exam to test writing, spelling and how you express yourself; therefore, the use of AI is typically not allowed for language improvement.

1. AI may be used when it is permitted and only in the way it is permitted. Permitted aids are described in the curriculum and clarification is provided on what you can use AI for and how you can use AI.
2. AI must never be used to write an entire assignment.
3. You are allowed to use AI to write your notes, but you are not allowed to insert AI-generated notes into your exam paper.

1. Familiarize yourself with the permitted aids in the curriculum, including clarifications on how (and not only whether AI is permitted) and guidelines on good academic practice.
2. Your use of permitted aids must clearly indicate when and how AI was used.

If you are in doubt about where the line is between permitted help and cheating[LI1] , you must contact your study board, teacher or supervisor, who will be able to give you additional help.

1. It depends on the subject in question and whether AI is a permitted aid. 
2. You may use AI to brainstorm in a pre-writing phase, but you may not insert AI-generated content into an assignment as if it were your own work.

1. The plagiarism system in Digital Exam monitors for plagiarism. Regarding AI for written on-site exams, you must activate a monitoring system that takes screen prints during the exam. Random samples are then taken in this material to see if, for example, ChatGPT is active, and whether AI-generated passages are found that were copied directly into the exam paper.
2. Examiners are also tasked with reviewing and assessing exam papers for possible AI patterns, indicators and irregularities. This also depends on an assessment by the examiner.
3. If a teacher, examiner or co-examiner is in doubt as to whether AI-generated content has been used in an assignment, they may raise this concern with AAU Education and Students (AUS). This unit then assists in investigating the concern. AAU does not need to be able to prove that AI has been used; AAU must only be able to prove it beyond any doubt. In the process, the student will be heard, and if the student can argue for the use/assignment, the case will be closed. Conversely, an investigation can also result in a disciplinary case being brought where the student is sanctioned for violating the rules.

1. There is no standardized practice for this. Your study board, your teachers or supervisor can give you an answer on this.  
2. As a rule, it is not enough to simply say "I used AI". It must be more precise and not conflict with your having delivered an independent piece of work. 
3. This is usually included as a formal requirement for the project/assignment. If it is not stated, you must contact your study board; the study board is responsible for informing you about this. In many assignments, AI usage is declared in the methods section.
