You can become a tutor or a buddy for new students at AAU.

Help others get off to a good start 

Do you remember when you started at AAU and how several people were ready to help you get settled into your new study programme and life as a university student? You have the opportunity to do the same for others. Your knowledge and experience as a student at AAU and in Denmark in general can be very useful to new students — Danish as well as international students. You therefore have the opportunity to make a difference to new students by becoming their tutor or buddy.

Tutor

As a tutor your primary task is to contribute to a good study environment and help new students feel welcome and safe at AAU during their commencement of study.

Tutors are representatives of AAU, and tutors give new students room and time to form their own impressions of their study programmes and lecturers. At the same time, tutors provide new students with a helping hand in terms of forming new friendships during the beginning of their studies.

The tutor role is highly educational and fun at the same time. While your efforts as a tutor will make a significant difference to others, you will also make new friendships yourself and have a fun autumn during the study start where all the festive activities take place.

Buddy

As a buddy, it is your primary task to help international students get a good and safe study life at AAU.

It will be your task to introduce new students to the form of study at AAU. You also contribute to make international students feel at home in Aalborg and are in charge of teaching them about Danish culture and practical conditions — for instance how to take the bus, where to find the library and how to open a bank account.

By being a buddy, you not only make a difference to others, but you also gain friendships across national borders. You get unique insights into new cultures and get to use and develop your English skills and maybe even other languages — that is all up to you!
