The event will discuss four ongoing projects on the social history of coercion. The projects focus on the period from c.1700 to 1900 – a time when state institutions were reformed and a free labor market was created. The projects will present how police institutions, prison reforms, and new forms of documentation shaped the experiences of coercion and autonomy on the threshold of modern Denmark. 

The event will be held in English.
