Information Architecture, Persuasive Design

The specialisation in Persuasive Design is part of the Information Architecture study at Aalborg University. The PD – line (Persuasive Design), has as its special focus communication aimed at convincing the recipient to change attitudes, behaviour or beliefs

The Master of Science in Persuasive Design combines IT expertise with professional communication of worldview related topics.

The Master’s programme is aimed at persuasive communication. The PD – line (Persuasive Design), has as its special focus communication aimed at convincing the recipient to change attitudes, behaviour or beliefs. The focus is primarily worldview oriented communication, including ethical and methodological issues like – What, for example is the difference between persuasion and manipulation?

Through the Master’s Programme in Information Architecture with the Persuasive Design focus area you will (among other things) acquire knowledge of:

  • Theory and methods as regards interaction with an analysis and design of information architecture and persuasive design across platforms and technologies
  • User centred design of information architectures and persuasive design conceived in ethical perspective.
  • Persuasive methods and strategies for utilizing and communicating the potential of knowledge and information conceived in context of various world views.
  • The role, function, and possibilities of persuasive information architecture in various social and cultural contexts.

Furthermore, you customize your education through individual choices of electives and project subjects. You can choose to work with projects on IT communication and discussion of any kind of ideas and world views (including political, religious and scientific ideas and views).

The study is flexible in the sense that in your projects you can choose to focus on communicative, ethical, epistemological or information architectural aspects as you prefer. This allows for emphasizing your graduate studies after current as well as future skills and tasks.

The programme is organised with intensive workshops in Aalborg. Whenever possible the study offers video or sound links that will make it possible to follow the lectures online. Co-lectures and electives on 7. + 8. semester are not offered as online lectures.

The study offers supervision face to face or via video links (or Skype).
