The Master’s programme in Construction Management and Building Informatics gives you insight into all phases of construction from early concepts to detailed design, construction management and operation & maintenance.
The programme covers topics including organisation, finance, project management, working environment, logistics, Building Information Management (BIM), Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), Virtual Reality (VR) and international standards like Industry Foundation Classes (IFC).


The ability to manage a construction project both in practice and digitally is critical in today's construction sector. In the Construction Management and Building Informatics programme you learn about construction and project management, organisation and ICT solutions in the construction industry. After the first semester, you select a specialisation in either Construction Management or Building Informatics.

The programme is targeted at students with a bachelor’s degree, such as constructing architects, and during the programme you write your projects in close collaboration with companies.

This is a fulltime study programme, which is characterised by problem based project work in groups. You will be working closely with other students most of the time, and you are required to be present at the university on a daily basis  and spend a vast majority of your day here.

The programme entitles you to the designation Master of Science (MSc) in Technology (Construction Management and Building Informatics).

Cooperation with the industry

An important element in the Master’s programme is problem based projects in cooperation with the industry. Almost all student projects are carried out in cooperation with companies and knowledge organisations within the construction industry. Also, the programme is closely connected to development initiatives within the building sector. Many years of experience shows that problem based project work in cooperation with companies is fruitful for both parties; as a student you learn how to combine theory and practice, and the company gets valuable new input on both existing and future challenges.

Thus, the programme gives you both an academic and practical understanding of organisational and technical challenges in all phases of construction. As a graduate from Construction Management and Building Informatics, you are therefore well equipped to meet the demands of modern construction.


In the Construction Management specialisation, you learn about organisation, communication, collaboration and relationships, legal issues, finance, project management, working environment, geotechnics, risk management, quality assurance and logistics. You work with the interplay between project planning and execution, and with analysis and development of systems for management and quality assurance of production in relation to the construction sector.


In the Building Informatics specialisation, you work with specification, design, implementation and evaluation of ICT solutions in the construction industry. You learn about the construction industry's business processes, information needs and communication analysis, and you gain in-depth knowledge of management and interdisciplinary collaboration. Among other topics, we will cover Building Information Management (BIM), Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), Virtual Reality (VR) and international standards as the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC).


The Construction Management and Building Informatics programme is an English language programme, takes place in an international environment and is offered internationally. This means that you acquire strong language skills in addition to your academic competence. The international environment can also give you solid intercultural competence.


The title Master of Science (MSc) in Technology is awarded to graduates of technical programmes. Technical programmes are typically aimed at graduates who have a Bachelor’s background other than engineering.

Where the traditional engineering education consists of a Bachelor’s degree followed by a Master's degree, a Master of Science (MSc) in Technology is a Master’s degree programme at the same academic level, but based on more varied academic student profiles.

A Master of Science (MSc) in Technology programme builds an academic framework on top of the knowledge students have acquired during their Bachelor’s programme. This means that as a student you acquire deeper and more specialised knowledge.

PROBLEM based learning (PBL)
